What’s your Word of the Year?

dictionary entry "word"

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to our first blog post of 2021!  I am excited because I believe God is going to do great things with our Central Valley Ladies–whether we’re in person or not.

First, have you been hearing chatter here and there about a ‘word of the year?’

As a writer, that sounds like a crazy-fun idea!

What’s a ‘Word of the Year?’ you may ask…From my understanding, it’s a word to attach to our life goals, spiritual goals, goals in general for each year.

One year, I made ‘be unstoppable’ my word–yes, two words.

My good friend Carol’s word is prepare. She says, “As I thought about the move from 2020 to 2021, I thought about things I can look forward to, things htat give me hope.  ‘Prepare’ keeps me in a future and hopeful mindset…”  She bases this word on “Prepare the way of the Lord (Isaiah 40:3.)”

Mine is forge.  Because, look, a lot of people are struggling right now.  I’m struggling right now!  But with God’s, my church family’s, and my friends’ help, I’m going to forge forward in 2021.

In John 5:8, Jesus says, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk!”

Paul says in Philippians 2:13, “…forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward [could I use the word ‘forging’ here??] to those things which are ahead, I press on [forge??] toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus Christ.”

Paul forged; we can, too.
