"Changing Lives by the Power of Christ"

The Storms will Come

Storm at sea

Hurricane Sally is making her way inland.  If you’re living near the coast, you probably are hunkering down.  Undoubtedly you boarded up windows and got prepared with your emergency supply.

You probably gathered your First Aid kits and batteries for flashlights.  Maybe you gassed up your car and headed north.

You prepped.

It’s like life.

See, you can buy your baby the best car seat, pick an IRA, get a home security system–all good ideas, but here’s the thing:

The storms will come.

Your car may have a high safety rating, you may settle in the best neighborhood, you may choose the best schools. But guess what?

The storms will come.

You may start your newborn in a Mommy-n-Me Bible class, attend church regularly, send your teen on church retreats. But…

The storms will come.

I think you see where I’m going with this.  Preparing is good.  Scriptural, in fact.  Jesus tells a story of two men who weather a storm in Matthew 7:24-26.  It’s a very short story, but completely relatable.  One man builds his house on the rock.  Another builds his upon the sand.  The storms lash, the rain falls.  Only one house stands.

The Bible promises the storms will come. Like Hurricane Sally, life’s storm surges rage. You may experience damage.

But even when storms come, you ultimately will stand if you rely on the Rock–that is Jesus Christ.triumphant man standing on rock at sea

“There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside You: neither is there any rock like our God.”
