Ladies, we’ve got less than one week to go! Yes, I’m talking about the U.S. Presidential Election.
No, I’m not going to talk politics in this post (haven’t we had enough already?!?)
But I am going to talk about the 2020 Election.
In our Ladies’ Connect Group on Wednesday nights, we’re studying Romans 13 in the Bible.
In the first few verses, Paul tells us by Divine revelation to be a good citizen. “The powers that be are ordained of God.(Romans 13:1)”
We’re to be good citizens.
What do good citizens do on November 3, 2020? Yep! We vote.
We “render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. (Mark 12:17)”
That said, not everyone is going to like the outcome of the election. Next Wednesday, there are going to be celebrators; there are going to be criers.
But regardless of the election outcome, we are to pray for our leaders. It’s in the Bible:
“I encourage you to offer supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving thanks for all humans; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour…(I Timothy 2:1-5)”
Don’t we all want to live quiet, peaceable lives? I surely do.
There will be only one winner next Tuesday–that is, if the election actually goes without a hitch or hic-up with votes…
Whether we’re a celebrator or a crier, I hope we’ll do our best to accept the results with the dignity and kindness that befits a woman of Christ.
But as for now, let’s follow the advice of a minister friend of mine:
And do a lot of praying.
